In furtherance of the university’s objective of raising total men and women, courses in the College are tailored towards engendering creative entrepreneurial spirit in our students. To give practical effect to this, the College coordinates Key National Universities Commission (NUC) courses, such as GST 111 and 121 (Communication in English), GST 122 (Communication in French), GST 211 (Philosophy and Logic) GST 221 (Nigerian People and Cultures), GST 222 (Peace and Conflict Studies), and GST 311 (History and Philosophy of Science).

The College also anchors the Entrepreneurial Development Studies (EDS) and Total Man Concept (TMC). The EDS are custom built courses designed by the University to inculcate in our students the spirit of enterprise, job creation and value-adding disposition to life.

Similarly the TMC component is packaged to address the body, soul and spirit, believing that our goal is to produce academically certified graduates who will uphold and demonstrate the University’s Seven Core Values of Spirituality, Integrity, Possibility Mentality, Capacity building, Responsibility, Diligence and Sacrifice; that of raising versatile leaders whose soul and spirit are in alignment with their academic accomplishments.

College Programmes

The degree programmes available in the College cater for the diverse academic interests of students and prepare them for the variety of job opportunities and tasks which they may be confronted with in later life. Graduates of the College will not only be expected to fit into a variety of job situations, such as research, teaching, management and other professional works in both private and public sectors, but will be able to go into any entrepreneurial ventures of their choice.

All programmes in the College enable the would-be graduates to obtain a general grounding in all aspects of social sciences, human development and business management before navigating a career path later in life. Development of requisite research skills in the general field of humanities, management and social sciences is an essential part of the college programme.

Honour Degree Programmes.

The College of Development Studies presently offers Single Honour Degree programmes. In future it may offer Combined Honour Degrees in the relevant disciplines. The graduation requirement includes: Compulsory courses in General Studies, Human Development Studies (Total Man Concept.), and Entrepreneurship, Management Information System, Mathematics, Statistics (as these apply to each programme) and the College wide courses. All students in the College will be required to pass all required examinations in the courses before they can graduate.
