Covenant Beats First Generation Varsities to Emerge 1st in Electricity; Energy Policy; Sustainable Energy
Not less than 5 first generation Nigerian universities played catch-up to Covenant University as the latter emerged No. 1 in the list of the top 100 institutions worldwide, by scholarly output, according to the latest computations by Elsevier SciVal.
Covenant University’s 150 scholarly outputs, 3355 views count, and 464 citation count placed her at the summit of the top 10 list of institutions on the aforementioned topic.
The list, dominated by Nigerian universities, featured the Obafemi Awolowo University (2nd), University of Lagos (3rd), University of Ibadan (4th), and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (5th). University of Nigeria, Nsukka, was 8th and University of Port Harcourt 10th.
Also in the list were Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (6th), Seoul National University (7th), and Robert Gordon University (9th).
The leading author in the field of Electricity; Energy Policy; Sustainable Energy at Covenant University, Professor Sunday Oyedepo of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was ranked second on the list of the top 500 authors on this topic, courtesy of his 3 scholarly outputs. Two other faculty in that Department, Professor Oluseyi Ajayi and Professor Olayinka Ohunakin, were ranked 3rd and 28th respectively.
