Covenant Makes Top 3 of African Universities in Computer Science (Miscellaneous)
Covenant University has emerged third (3rd) among African universities in the field of Computer Science (Miscellaneous), according to latest computations by Elsevier SciVal, the world acclaimed ready-to-use solution that offers easy access to the research performance of 8,500 research institutions and 220 countries worldwide.
In SciVal’s current rankings of African institutions in the field of Computer Science (Miscellaneous), Covenant was ranked 3rd in the continent behind the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) which was ranked 1st, and the University of Cairo (Egypt), ranked 2nd. No other Nigerian institution made the top 10 bracket of the rankings.
Covenant was ahead of some of the oldest institutions on the continent, including South Africa’s University of Cape Town, which is ranked the best in Africa but occupied the 17th spot in the SciVal ranking for Computer Science (Miscellaneous).
The assessment, spanning the period between 2012 and 2017, showed that Covenant had 54 publications, 61 authors, and 28 citations.
Professor Francis Idachaba, the leading publisher in this field at Covenant University, is ranked 8th on the list of authors with 20 publications, 14 citations and 2 h-index.
A faculty in the Electrical and Information Engineering (EIE) Department, Professor Idachaba, is the Director, Academic planning Unit at Covenant, and his research interests range from 5G Communication Network Architecture, Internet of Things, E-Health, and Communication Architecture Design, to Wireless Sensor Networks, and System Design and Electronics.
Another Covenant faculty on the list of ranked authors in the field of Computer Science (Miscellaneous) is Professor AAA. Atayero, who had 12 publications, 9 citations and 3 h-index.
The professor of communication engineering is the current Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University.
