Chrisland University Seeks Mentorship from Covenant

Chrisland University, Owode, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has expressed an interest in having Covenant University as a mentor and collaborative partner, with the goal of nurturing Chrisland to the standard of Covenant.

While lifting the lid on Chrisland’s intention during a recent visit of the school’s Management to Covenant, the Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland, Professor Chinedum Babalola, noted that Covenant had become an excellent brand and a household name among private Universities not just in Nigeria, but Africa and the world.

Professor Babalola applauded the accomplishments and recognitions Covenant University had attained, as validated by both national and global rankings, with her graduates consistently maintaining the status of the most employable in the country within a very short time of existence.

“In the area of entrepreneurship and innovation, most graduate entrepreneurs and innovators are from Covenant. In the area of discipline, Covenant University can be ranked as number one among tertiary institutions in the country. Based on all these, Chrisland University is interested in partnering with Covenant University in such a manner Covenant will mentor as well as be the supervising university from the private sector to Chrisland University,” she stated.

The Chrisland Vice-Chancellor posited that the expected relationship should cover almost every aspect of the University operations including governance, management structure and processes, students’ admission aid and support, students and staff handbooks, dress code and welfare, driving research, publications and innovation for global rankings, and entrepreneurial study towards accelerating start-ups.

According to her, the intended collaboration would also span across the Total Man Concept, leadership and Towards a Total Graduates (TTG) initiative, bursary and audit units, general studies, SIWES industrial attachment and internship, foreign and local linkages, library resources, internally generated revenue structure, cafeteria management, teaching, learning and research, ICT (processes, results, attendance, biometric etc) and the public relations unit.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Covenant, Professor AAA. Atayero, stated that the founder of Covenant was concerned about creating a system that would not bemoan failure and decadence in the education landscape, but one that would adopt the carefully framed core values geared at addressing issues on ground.

He tasked the visiting team to ensure that there was a prevailing and matching passion to drive the vision behind the establishment of the institution. “The clarity of the vision and mission statement of Covenant was compelling enough to drive members of the University community to action,” Professor Atayero stated.

He noted that Covenant’s Board of Regents had played an important role in helping the University to uphold her values and follow the part of integrity in the quest to fulfil the mandate of Covenant. “You need a clear vision and a visionary leader to sell the vision at all time,” the Vice-Chancellor admonished.

Professor Atayero promised Chrisland Management that Covenant University would open her doors with a view to helping them learn from her operations. “We will open our doors to you; we will share what we know, and you must be ready to calibrate from time to time to meet the demands of each time,” he concluded.

During the course of the parley, some key officers of Covenant made presentations on the day-to-day operations of various arms of the University’s governance system, with the University’s Management fielding questions from the visitors on areas of interest.

The Covenant team at the meeting included the Registrar, Dr. Lanre Amodu, Director, Centre for Learning Resources, Dr. Promise Ilo, Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Conrad Omonhinmin, University Chaplain, Pastor Kayode Martins, Director, Centre for Systems and Information Service, Professor Emmanuel Adetiba, Pioneer Registrar of Landmark University, Mrs. Mary Aboyade, and Director, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Dr. Gershon Obindah.
