Covenant, Author World Beaters in Research Topic: T.18077 Path Loss; Ericsson; Radio Transmission

 

West Africa’s Best Research University, Covenant, and a member of her faculty were the numero uno globally in both the Institutions and Authors categories of the research topic: T.18077 Path Loss; Ericsson; Radio Transmission, according to the computations by Elsevier’s SciVal from 2015 to 2020.

SciVal, an online tool that offers quick, easy access to the research performance of 7,000 research institutions and 220 nations worldwide using bibliometrics, submitted that, based on the scholarly output of the world’s institutions in the period reviewed, Covenant emerged No.1 in the list of the top 10 institutions in this category.

Covenant emerged the best courtesy of her 20 scholarly output and 154 citations.

Dr Segun Popoola and Professor AAA. Atayero, both of the Department of Electrical and Information of Engineering, Covenant University, were 1st and 2nd, respectively in the top 10 list of the best authors in the research topic: T.18077. Dr Popoola had 18 scholarly output, 144 citations, and 11 h-index, while Professor Atayero, the Covenant University Vice-Chancellor, had 15 scholarly output, 131 citations, and 12 h-index.

Dr Popoola’s research interests include wireless communications, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT) and cybersecurity of critical infrastructure. The research interests of Atayero, a Professor of Communication Engineering, include Broadband Wireless Access Networks/Technologies (LS-MIMO), IoT-Enabled Applications for Smart & Connected Communities, and IoT-Enabled Cyber-physical Systems for Smart and Connected Communities (SCC) among others.

Aside from enhancing the profiles of her faculty, excellence in research has earned Covenant international recognitions and honours on many fronts. Most notable are the excellent positions the young institution enjoys in the rankings of institutions locally and internationally.

Research proficiency had intensified since the advent of the current administration. It earned Covenant her debut in the world ranking of universities in 2018. The institution, currently ranked 401-500 in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, is also listed in other categories such as the Young University Rankings where she is 101-150, 91st in Emerging Economies Rankings, and 30th in Millennium Rankings among others.
