Covenant Notches 22.04% YOY Increase in THE World Reputation Rankings
Nigeria's best private University, Covenant, continues to distinguish herself in the comity of world institutions courtesy of her improved ranking in the Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings.
Covenant, in the just-released 2020 World Reputation Rankings notched a 22.04% Year-on-Year (YOY) increase to rise from her former 921 spot in the 2019 rankings to 718.
Data Analysis from the THE showed a gallop in Covenant's reputation rank from Zero reputation rank in 2016, to 718 reputation rank in 2020. A breakdown of the data using the YOY and the Reputation Rank metrics showed a meteoric rise in Covenant's reputation rank since 2016.
The year 2018 saw a YOY increase of 32.52% with a Reputation Rank of 940. In 2019, Covenant garnered a YOY increase of 2.02% with a Reputation Rank of 921. The 2020 data showed a YOY increase of 22.04% and a Reputation Rank of 718.
The Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings are created using the world's largest invitation-only academic opinion survey, which is a unique piece of research.
The 2020 rankings were based on a survey carried out between November 2019 and February 2020, which received a total of 11,004 responses from 132 countries.
The best-represented subject was engineering (accounting for 16.9 per cent of responses), followed by physical sciences (15.2 per cent). Also, well represented were life sciences (11.5 per cent), clinical and health (11 per cent), business and economics (10.6 per cent), arts and humanities (10.4 per cent) and social sciences (9.9 per cent). The rest of the responses came from computer science (7.3 per cent), education (2.9 per cent), psychology (2.8 per cent) and law (1.5 per cent).
The reputation table ranks institutions according to an overall measure of their esteem that combines data on their reputation for research and teaching.
