Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management Students Excel in CIPM Exams

The high quality academic training on offer at Covenant University has once again been validated, with students of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management of the University posting excellent results in the February 2017 diet of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) examinations.

Covenant University had in 2015 went into a collaboration with the CIPM with a view to getting students of the University to take selected papers from the CIPM curriculum, sit for examination, and be certified by the institute.

In furtherance of this arrangement, 27 of the 35 300-Level students who sat for the penultimate stage of the February 2017 exams excelled with no reference, while 22 of the 30 400-Level students who sat for the final stage also excelled with no reference.

The CIPM had in a colourful event on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, presented the successful final year students with their letters of success and invitation to the induction ceremony which holds on May 30 and 31, 2017.

The students, who were tutored for the CIPM examinations by faculty members from the Business Management Department, will be professionally certified just at the nick of their graduation in June 2017.

Stating the benefits of the certification, asides possessing a Bachelors Degree of Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management, one of the faculty members that trained the students, Dr. Olumuyiwa Oludayo, said that the successful students will upon graduation be issued with a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, a Human Resource Practitioners License with three years validity, and get to be inducted as Associate members of the CIPM, their professional institute.

Dr. Oludayo, who is also the Director, African Leadership Development Centre, Covenant University, said that the graduating students will also bag a Diploma in Leadership Development following the successful completion of the Diploma programme during their undergraduate sojourn at the University.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor AAA. Atayero, remarked that the University’s Vision of being one of the top 10 universities in the world by the year 2022 (Vision 10: 2022) continues to receive a boost by positive feedbacks such as this. It is possible for Vision 10: 2022 to be fulfilled in 2017, he added.

The atmosphere was filled with inspiration as the Dean, College of Business and Social Sciences, Professor Francis Iyoha, accompanied by the Dean, Student Affairs, Mr. Azubuike Ezenwoke, presented the successful students with their letters. The students will be certified HR Professionals just at the point of graduation.
