Summary of Profile
Before coming into academics, Prof. Daniel Gberevbie served as a Military Personnel (Nigerian Air Force) for 15 years in Kaduna, Kano and Benin City, Nigeria (1984-1999); and as Administrative Officer, later Operations Manager, Tropical Express Nigeria Limited, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria (1999-2003).
Prof. Daniel Gberevbie started his career in the academics as an Assistant Lecturer on 1st September 2003, at the then Department of Policy and Strategic Studies, now Department of Political Science and International Relations, Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria, where he rose to become a Professor on 1st August 2015. He served excellently well as Deputy Dean, in-charge of School of Social Sciences, made-up of four Departments: (a) Economics and Development Studies, (b) Mass Communication, (c) Political Science and International Relations, and (d) Sociology, all in the then College of Business and Social Sciences (2012-2015 Sessions); HOD, Political Science and International Relations (2021); and a member of Covenant University Senate (2012 - date).
Furthermore, Prof. Daniel Gberevbie has served on various committees of the University either as Chairman or Committee Member, these include: Covenant University (CU) Postgraduate Board; University Curriculum Development Committee; Road Safety Committee; Security Committee; Research, Innovation and Discovery; Quality and Academic Standards; Ad-hoc Committee on Excess Workload; Strategic Planning Committee; Faculty Appointment and Promotion Committee; Library Committee; Staff and Students’ Appellate Committee; and CU Ad-hoc Committee on Salary Structure. In addition, Prof. Daniel Gberevbie has represented the Covenant University’s Vice Chancellor at different occasions such as guest at convocation ceremonies of other Universities in Nigeria, keynotes speaker and also given public lectures in various areas of human endeavours.
Prof. Daniel Gberevbie has been an internal assessor and examiner for the School of Postgraduate Studies of Covenant University. He has also served as an external assessor and examiner to different Universities in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Prof. Daniel Gberevbie has travelled wide to examine PhD theses, attend and present academic papers in international conferences both at home and overseas, and has published articles in reputable peer-reviewed local and foreign journals, including books and book chapters in the field of Political Science and Public Administration Indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. In addition, Prof. Daniel Gberevbie has supervised a number of undergraduate final year Projects and Postgraduate Students of PGD, M.Sc., MPA Dissertations and Ph.D Theses (both completed and ongoing) in the field of Political Science, Public Administration, Industrial and Human Resource Management. Furthermore, Prof. Daniel Gberevbie has also taken part in the National Universities Commission (NUC) Team on Academic Programme Accreditation of Public Administration and Resource Verification of Human Resource Management Programme in Nigerian Universities.
Prof. Daniel Gberevbie’s areas of research interest include Personnel/Human Resources Management, Corporate Governance, Security Study, Ethical Issues and Accountability, Governance, e-Government and e-Governance, Public Policy, Leadership, Development Administration, Gender Politics and Local Government Administration. He is a professional member of the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN).
