Summary of Profile
As an NYSC member in Ondo State in 1984/1985, her place of primary assignment was the Ondo State Housing Corporation, Akure. She was retained in appreciation of her meritorious service. She later joined the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute in 1986 as a Research Officer, rising through the ranks to Chief Research Officer and Head/Coordinator, Building Research Department. In 2007, she moved to Covenant University Ota, where presently, she is an Associate Professor of Architecture. She currently lectures, undertakes research and mentors young architects and students as Coordinator, Built Environment Research Cluster and Students' Academic Adviser. An accomplished academic, she has authored several academic publications in local and international high impact journals and conference proceedings. Her other achievements include formulation of indigenous design guidelines, documentation of Nigerian architectural patterns and popularisation of alternative building materials and technologies.
Dr Opoko has received several local and international awards. She is currently a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects; Member, Nigerian Institute of Architects’ Board of Architectural Education; fully registered by the Architects’ Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON); Member, ARCON Architects Professional Competency Evaluation Committee; Fellow, Strategic Institute for Natural Resources and Human Development; Fellow and Council Member, National Institute of Investment Professionals amongst others. She is married and blessed with three wonderful children.
