CU Welcomes Returning Students Back to Campus

Covenant University received her students back on Campus on Saturday, March 25, 2023, after an approximately one month shut down for the 2023 general elections.  

The University campus started bubbling with life again as early as 7am when students started arriving with great excitement and expectations, while being received in their various halls of residence by faculty and staff.

In a welcome assembly organized at the University Chapel to usher staff and students into the Omega Semester of the 2022/2023 Session, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, enjoined the University Community to appreciate God for His sustenance and journey mercies during the break as well as thanking Him for His awesome help throughout the Alpha Semester, which culminated into outstanding achievements for the University.  

In his remarks at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, who welcomed the students on behalf of the Chancellor, Dr David Oyedepo, Management, Faculty and Staff of the University, declared with enthusiasm that the Lord would give the University community a lot to smile about in the Omega Semester, especially as God has declared prophetically through His servant, the Chancellor of Covenant University, that this year, we will all ride 'On the Covenant Highways of Life.’

He expressed joy at the commendable performance of majority of the students at the just released Alpha Semester Examination results, stating that the result points to the fact that there is reward in being diligent in one’s studies; adding that the students’ performance go to prove that anyone can achieve their dreams if they put in the work. He urged all faculty, staff and students to maximize the opportunity for improvement in the Omega semester, by positioning themselves for greater heights in their respective assignments and endeavours.

In her opening remarks at the event, the Registrar, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David, welcomed the students and appreciated God for bringing them safely back to Campus. She announced the release of their Alpha Semester results which she noted that they can access on the students portal, while encouraging them to strive for better performance during the Omega Semester.

Others at the event were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olajide Adekeye; the Chaplain, Pastor Prince Ogunmola and other Principal Officers of the University.

Meanwhile, lectures begin on Monday, March 27, 2023.
