The event, which began with an opening prayer, featured insightful sessions led by distinguished speakers and provided an interactive platform for students to engage directly with the facilitators.

For the fourth consecutive year, Covenant University students in the Department of Chemical Engineering have claimed the top position in the prestigious 2024 Students’ Design Project.

The Competition was organized by the Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. The 2024 project, titled, ‘Design of 150,000 Tonnes/Year of Activated Carbon, Bitumen, and Synthetic Rubber Production Plant from Waste Tyre Feedstock,’ earned them the coveted award.

More partnerships between private companies and the academia will encourage scholarly works in Nigeria’s education sector. This is according to the Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Professor Timothy Anake.

History was made on Friday, December 6, 2024, as a research team of Covenant University unveiled a virtual Chemistry laboratory App, an innovation that allows students anywhere in the world to carry out experiments and research with full complement of equipment outside a physical laboratory setting.
