Covenant Enactus Team Unveils New Initiative, Seeks More Support from Management

The Faculty Coordinator of Covenant University's Enactus team, Mr. Michael Fagbohun, says the team is improving its award-winning Pet City project.

He stated that the improvement was being made by devising means of harvesting the huge plastic waste in both the land and waterways in the University community to increase the needed raw materials.

Mr. Fagbohun made this known when he led the Enactus team members on a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Mr. Fagbohun said the visit was to get the Vice-Chancellor acquainted with the team's ongoing projects and its intention to scale up the initiative to become not just a nationally, but globally, accepted waste-to-wealth solution.

While appreciating the continuous support the team had enjoyed over the years, Mr. Fagbohun solicited robust management support towards impacting the global audience positively, with the solutions emanating from the stable of Covenant Enactus.

He told the Vice-Chancellor that Enactus, despite being a global non-profit body and community of enterprising students, academic and business leaders, committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives, had become a veritable means for building and shaping upcoming leaders. He noted that two current members of the Students' Representative Council are staunch members of the University's Enactus team.

The Student Team Leader of Covenant Enactus, Adeolu Adegboye, appreciated the consistency of support and encouragement the team had drawn from the University Management. He noted that as the team was about the business of affecting lives positively, it was also evolving a developmental framework for building future leaders.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo, said he was excited about the good work the team had been doing, which was why he was eager to meet with them. He promised the continuous support of management in promoting the activities of Covenant University Enactus.

According to him, "Your activities have become a veritable means of converting waste to wealth, wiping tears off the faces of many, and creating an enabling environment for people to thrive and succeed."

Professor Adebayo said he was glad to know that the University's team was upholding the philosophy of Enactus through the building and shaping of the next generation of leaders from its platform. He wished the team well ahead of the national and global championships slated for the year and tasked them to go beyond emerging national to being crowned world champion.

Present during the visit was the Director, Vice-Chancellor's Office, Dr. Omotayo Osibanjo, and members of the Media and Corporate Affairs Unit of the University.
