As part of strategic efforts in making Covenant University more robust in delivering qualitative service for the realization of its vision and goals, the University’s Board of Regents has approved a new management structure for the University with effect from September 1, 2009.
Under the new structure, the University now has an office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, with the appointment of Professor Charles Ogbulogo as the pioneer occupant of the office. Professor Ogbulogo, a Covenant University professor oEnglish Language, was until his appointment the Dean of College of Human Development of the University, a position he held for four academic sessions.
The restructuring also saw the merger of College of Human Development with the College of Business and Social Sciences becoming College of Development Studies thereby bringing the number of Colleges in the University to two. Six Schools were also carved out from the two Colleges and Deputy Deans appointed to oversee them.
Some of the appointees into Deanship of Colleges and Schools include Professor Ola-Rotimi Mathew Ajayi, College of Development Studies and Professor James Katende, College of Science and Technology. Others are Professor J. A. Bello, School of Business, Dr. Patrick Edewor, School of Human Resource Development, Professor T. O. Fadayomi, School of Social Sciences, Professor Churchill Ako, School of Engineering, Professor O Solanke, School of Environmental Sciences and Professor Louis Egwari, School of Natural Sciences.
Restructuring also affected some key directorates and centres in the University where six new directors, two deputy directors and a sub dean were appointed. The new Directors are, Mr Christopher Nkiko, Centre for Learning Resources, Pst Kayode Ipinmoroti, Dean, Student Affairs, Prof J. Omoleye, Centre for Research and Development, Dr J. Amfemi Ayam, International Office and Linkages, Dr Hezekiah Oluremi Abimbola, Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies and Engr Mike Ogbolu-chi who retained his position as Director, Centre for Systems and Information Services. The two Deputy Directors appointed in the Directorate of Centre for Systems and Information Services are Engr. Bayo Ajala, Hardware, and Mrs. Mary Aboyade, Data Management. The new Sub dean in the Directorate of Student Affairs is Mr Michael Atoyebi.
Changes were also effected in the headship of Academic Departments of the University. The new heads are:

Announcing the new developments in the University recently at a welcome assembly for faculty and staff for 2009/2010 academic session, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Aize Obayan, said the idea behind the restructuring is to bring academic clusters together with a view to driving qualitative research as well as the expansion of the University’s base in terms of leadership engagement towards delivering the mandate and goals of the University.
Professor Obayan who appreciated faculty and staff for the contribution they have made and continue to make towards the growth of the University, also announced the establishment of the office of the Distinguished Professors in the University. She said the idea behind the expansion of the scope of Distinguished Professor’s position currently occupied by Professor Ekundayo Adeyemi and Professor Joshua Thompson Adewale Ojo was to make the occupants, who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields, goodwill ambassadors for the University. They are also expected to attract research grants and endowment for the University.
