Oyedepo Advocates Discipline as Pathway to Success

The Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Regents, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, has posited that success in life will remain a mirage without the force of discipline. 

The great icon made this statement during his remarks at the 21st Matriculation Ceremony for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students on Friday, at the University Chapel, in Canaanland, Ota.

He advised advised youths to imbibe discipline in order to actualise their goals; with the consciousness that access to the top was always at a cost of high-level discipline, among others.

The chancellor explained that the price paid for discipline may be costly, but the end result was priceless, as no one would ever be any more accomplished in his pursuit than his level of self-discipline.

“What we find in our tomorrow are simply the fruits of the seed of hardwork, discipline and sacrifice sown today. What one makes of his time today would determine the outcome that awaits him tomorrow,” he added.

He implored the youth to recognise that time was an asset of inestimable value and a hidden treasure, saying the worth of a man’s time defines the worth of his life.

In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor, Bishop David Abioye, pointed out that Covenant University is running with a unique mandate that was delivered to the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo to raise a new generation of leaders in all spheres of human endeavours. He stated that all the management, faculty, staff and other stakeholders have vigorously and consistently pursued this vision.

“It is a unique brand of education that is driven by our Core Values which includes: Spirituality, Integrity, Possibility Mentality, Capacity building, Responsibility, Diligence and Sacrifice  And the ever-increasing testimonies of our graduates across the globe has continued to validates this life transforming mandate,” he added

While making his remarks at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun Adebayo, stated that a total of 2, 216 students, which comprised 116 post graduates, were matriculated for the 2020/2023 academic session.

He described the institution as a citadel of academic excellence where new generation of leaders were molded and trained to restore the lost glory of the black race.

“The products of Covenant University are the most employable graduates in Nigeria,” he said.

He added that the University was recently adjudged the leading research institution in Business and Economics, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering and physical Science by the Times Higher Education

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Registrar, Covenant University, Mrs. Regina A. Tobi-David welcomed the guests and appreciated the parents who has entrusted the University with the training and mentoring of their wards. She assured them that the institution is God’s own University, therefore, their wards are in good hands.
