McPherson University Leadership Visits Covenant University to Understudy Processes

The Vice-Chancellor of McPherson University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Professor Francis Igbasan, said Covenant University has become a standard that any major player in the Nigerian education landscape must measure up to.

Professor Igbasan said this during a recent working visit to Covenant University with the intent to understudy certain operational frameworks of Covenant’s research base, library resources, Management Sciences, Computer Science, and the University’s FM Station.

Professor Igbasan, who came along with other senior leaders of McPherson University, said they were on the ground to learn Covenant processes and operate at the minimum benchmark of best practices. According to him, "When I was appointed, I met with my leadership team, and we agreed that there must be a benchmark to operate with, and as such, we saw the need to visit the best in the country, see what is working there, exchange ideas, and run with those ideas with the end goal of getting McPherson to the place that your University has gotten to," he averred.

He appreciated the management of Covenant for availing them the opportunity to visit, noting that it was heart-warming that the cordiality extended toward them shows the readiness of Covenant to partner with McPherson University to advance learning in Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo, said he was enthused about the visit because it takes a desire to excel for one to leave his comfort zone and undertake a peer review visit of this kind.

Professor Adebayo said there is no substitute for continuous improvement in any process, no matter how good and effective it is, as there is no end to improving performance in whatever engagement one delves into.

"We are also open to learning from the best, irrespective of what we may have accomplished and learned over the years. Let me assure you and your leadership team that our doors will continually be opened to share with you what we know in order to see you accomplish and succeed in your assignment," he added.

Professor Adebayo congratulated Professor Igbasan on his appointment and wished him a successful tenure at the helm of affairs at the institution.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olujide Adekeye; Registrar, Mrs. Regina Tobi-David; Director, Financial Services, Pastor Olugbenga Kiki; Director, Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku, amongst others, were also around to receive and interact with the guests.
